My kids are 3.5 and 5 years old, we currently use a double-seater Panasonic Gyutto battery-assisted bike, which is great!
However, the younger child is in the middle of a growth spurt, and will soon be too big for the front seat.
The front seat specs of the current bike are: up to 15 kg/100 cm.
Rear seat specs: up to 22 kg/115 cm.
The nursery is 2 km from home.
Generally mum rides them to nursery in the morning then parks at the station before jumping on the train.
If it were just transport between nursery and back, I might consider a bike trailer to attach to the back of the bike, or if we win the lottery a cargo bike like the Winther Walleroo.
The size of those things make it a bit tricky to park in the station bike part.
Also the age situation means the eldest will be off to elementary school in 1.5 years, so it’s a short term thing.
With the distance to the nursery, getting the eldest to cycle alongside mum to nursery is one option, but the nursery won’t allow us to park a bike there.
We have a car, but want to keep it green and also not pay for parking by the station 4 or 5 days a week.
Does anyone have experience with a similar situation? Any advice or bike set ups that could work in our case?
Thanks!
