Are there any good (private) dormitories with meal plan? Preferably with reasonable distance from Waseda.

I’m applying for Waseda as an exchange student for one year and I’m looking into my accommodation options. I know that Waseda University offers exchange students a possibility to stay at an international dorm for exchange students. However, those don’t include any meal plan. I know that some dorms for regular students have them, but I was wondering if there is anything similar, where an exchange student (12 months) could apply?
(I’m interested in other solutions as well, if the prize isn’t crazy.)
I am super lazy cook with poor eating habits, so I’d happily pay extra to have a breakfast or/and dinner ready for me every day. I’d value this higher than having a personal toilet even 😀

Any info regarding this would be highly appreciated!

  1. It would help if you posted how much the current offerings you have researched cost.
You could always rent an apartment yourself and do your own cooking. If you don’t mind a short train ride you can normally save a lot by living 20-30 minutes from the university can cut the costs down considerably, generally, housing around a school/university/station will have the prices jacked up due to convenience.

  2. If you are male Wakeijuku is an option. I lived there almost a decade ago so I don’t know current prices but there definitely is a meal plan.

  3. WID waseda.

I am in in the dame situation as you and this is the dorm that has been recommended to me by Waseda. It is co-ed

  4. Wondering where you decided on staying, I’m in the same predicament right now 🙂

Considering between a private apartment in Takadanobaba, a nice share house in Mejiro, and WID apartment-dorm with meal plan.

Like you, I prefer privacy with some opportunities for socialization. I heard some bad things about WID management and the food so I’m kinda worried about that.
