So I have a sleep problem and want to try Melatonin supplement (like Now Foods etc.). As far as I researched, it is not possible to get it without a prescription in Japan. So what happens If I order it online from a website like iHerb? Will it pass through customs?

I have bought Melatonin from iHerb many times. No problem at all.
Melatonin is not available in Japan, it cannot be prescribed.
A site of MHLW said it’s not allowed to import it. So if customs find out they will confiscate it probably. Don’t know about the legal consequences but it seems it’s best not to try it out.
Why don’t you go to a psychiatrist and get some sleeping pills prescribed? I understood melatonin isn’t meant to be used long-term (more of like a help when you have a jetlag).
Just buy it on Iherb, but melatonin is mostly placebo to begin with.
We’re you able to order it? I tried ordering melatonin from iHerb a couple weeks ago and whenever I would click on one it would say not available in Japan. I bought some magnesium and I have some local stuff but I’m still only sleeping 3-5 hours a night most nights.
