  1. I really loved the Senjogahara Plateau Nature Trail in Nikko. I’m still relatively new to hiking, so I tend to stick to easier trails that are impossible to get lost on. It was a gorgeous hike, with so many varied views – mountains, rivers, waterfalls. All of my favorite pictures from that trip to Japan came from this hike. I chose to hike from the far end of the trail back towards town, so the bus ride back would be shorter when I decided I was done. Most people seemed to hike in the other direction. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

  2. 金勝アルプス in Shiga has an amazing trail with great views and many boulders that make it really fun to traverse!
