Would it be any trouble to send chocolate or sweets to the UK?

I’d like to send a friend in London a little care package, but I’m worried whether sweets will be a problem. When I sent sweets to the US last time, it caused all kinds of headaches for me. Has anyone sent snacks recently?

  1. Wrap them up, put them in a box and go to the post office. Will cost you more than usual currently but the process is the same. Really not a problem.

  2. You should be able to check what you can send by going on the UK customs page. They’ll have everything listed there, and you can check it against what you want to buy.

Usually, as long as there is no alcohol (such as chocolates with liqueur in them), most packaged sweets and chocolates are OK.

  3. Back in late 2019 I exchanged snacks, candies, chips with my UK friend. No problem at all.I sent a box that weighed around 1.5KG.

I also done this with my friend in US, Alabama.
What kind of problems you had? Because for me they never asked or had any issue with this kind of stuff.

  4. Just sent a package to Scotland yesterday with snacks (they weren’t interested in the specifics).
They only allow you to send by ship at this time, so check the best before dates because it may take 2 months. For price reference, my parcel was 650g and cost about ¥750.
