Kagoshima-Sakurajima ferry

Hi maybe someone who lives there can confirm to me whether or not this ferry operates January 1 or not? The website mentions an optional ferry tour that doesn’t operate December 29 to January 3, but I’m just interested in the standard ferry and taking a car over there.
