I travelled all over Japan these past 3 years, and visited many “tourist” spots and restaurants, taking advantage of the lack of crowds and government financial incentives.
Too late now, but Team lab Borderless , leaves in Kyoto, skiing in Hokkaido, beaches of Okinawa, museums everywhere, Disneyland, cherry blossoms at Himeiji castle all were good without the hordes
Tourists have never really affected me in any way after living here for over a decade, so I dunno.
I’ve kept thinking about this for the last 2 and a half years as well… What is it that we could enjoy more now, than later when there is a metric buttload of people…?
The only thing that will realistically change is the frequency of which you hear “Japanese OK?”
