A question to those who made Anki decks for themselves.

I want to make my own vocabulary deck, And I want to use kanji ofc. But how do I add furigana? Can somebody tell me?

  1. Not sure if there’s a better way but personally I just write out the sentence with the Kanji and put an extra line on top where I write the kana and use spaces to get it above the next Kanji. Or, I just use an extra line above the sentence and write a line with the kana, separated by commas to correspond with the order that they appear in the sentence.

  2. I made [an addon](https://github.com/Ben-Kerman/anki-jrp) for that. Or more specifically for both automatic furigana and pitch accent marking, but you can basically turn off the latter by setting all the colors to your primary text color (i.e. replacing all color codes in the addon’s note style settings with `inherit`)

If you don’t mind the unwieldiness of the space-separated syntax there’s also the official [Japanese Support addon](https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/3918629684), and if you want that but with pitch accent support take a look at the old [Migaku Japanese addon](https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/278530045) (although you’ll be stuck on Anki 2.1.35 for the latter)
