Anki Furigana Not Working?

I downloaded a deck today for some basic N5 words, and the deck contains furigana, however the furigana doesn’t work. It just shows up within brackets rather than above the kanji. For example, it looks like 生活[せいかつ]. I have 0 knowledge of how to work Anki, so if you have a solution, please try to keep it in simple terms 🥲.
