This is a bit urgent, hence why it can’t wait for the questions thread.
Does anyone here know if a Japanese national can **transfer** through Taiwan visa free? My husband and I have a layover in Taiwan and find very conflicting information online about this. I know Taiwan requires a visa from Japanese to enter the country but we are only there to transfer to another country. Maybe one of you have a Japanese family member that has done this before. Thank you.

How is Reddit more knowledgeable than calling the embassy/consulate and asking them?
Talk to your airline too— they should know. Taiwan visa restrictions are set to end Oct 15 but transit may already be fine (no idea).
Taiwan has just announced reopening of their visa waiver program to Japanese citizens from Sept 29.
You can transfer visa-free. They’ve also removed the PCR requirement. So you’re good to go!
Taiwan is OK with transfers since a few months, you transfer, you don’t need to enter taiwan, so the visa doesn’t matter. Trust that the airline won’t let you book the ticket otherwise.
