Yep ! Just like the title said I’m (M/28, Asian, always got mistaken for a Japanese) gonna gather my courage and hit the bar (British style I think) alone.
Just moved to Kyoto 3 months ago and I still don’t know my way around here.
Currently Friendless and Maidenless.
So I think it’s time to get to know the locals and hopefully got a friend to drink with in the future.
Anyone got a suggestion of what to do when I got to the bar So I can mingle with the locals ?

I swear to god, I’ve never once heard an Asian person in this sub say, _”Japanese people can tell that I’m not Japanese from a mile away.”_
But yeah, if you go to a bar, get drunk, be friendly, and don’t give yourself silly missions like, “I’m going to make friends today!” Just be yourself and see what happens.
I don’t know anything about the Kyoto bar scene, but one place I could recommend is [Bar Fishbowl](http://www.bar-fishbowl.com/). The owner, Jesse, is very welcoming to solo drinkers. It seems to have a lot of regulars that use it as a starting location. Both times I went I ended up going to other locations with the people I met there.
