USJ Ticket Questions

I have checked the USJ website and all Halloween themed days have no tickets available. I also see “Same-day tickets are not available at park ticket kiosks, our official website, or Lawson.” So in other words I’ll be wasting my time going in the morning hoping that there have been cancelations and trying to buy a ticket at the park entrance?

Outside of Halloween and holidays, is it easy to buy a ticket at the entrance or do they tend to turn people away?

If after buying tickets in advance online but plans change, it is a headache to get a refund? I don’t see any information about refunds in the website.

  1. I bought tickets for the final Halloween themed day next weekend and had to buy them online a few weeks ago. Because of COVID, numbers are reduced. Unfortunately, it seems you are out of luck.

  2. Halloween at USJ is very popular in Japan so those tickets may sell out months in advance. I believe if you book a stay at one of the official USJ partner hotels you’ll be able to buy tickets in the lobby as a guest but only hotel guests have this option. So, if the partner hotels are booked out on those dates you’ll be out of luck. Check each partner hotel website to see what their policy/availability for guests to buy USJ tickets. I haven’t done this myself so can’t give any specific details but the partner hotel websites should have the info you need.

ETA: The busiest times for USJ are weekends, Japanese holidays, and school breaks in Japan. If you get to the park early in the day you should be able to get tickets at the gate, especially if a weekday, but things like Express Passes may not be available.

  3. It looks like they are still taking reservations for annual pass holders if you want to go that route. Depending on your interest it could more than make up for it, many souvenirs are 20% off to those ticket holders and a few visits make up the cost. That said, if you only want to go once, it’s not worth it.

Reservations are booking up for close of Halloween though so best of luck if you decide that route! Edit: I should add that if you buy an annual pass on the same day, they give you an entry ticket, however, if they have booked up to capacity that may not be the case, so it’s a risk if you try to do that.
