Hi I need to get a debit card for a person who is 13 I live in Japan where do I go? I asked this before and all I got was “ why would you trust a 13 year old with one “ or people just being rude saying that it’s stupid when back home you can get one at the age of 7 so no it’s not stupid. So please don’t comment with any of that bs. Thank you for any advice.

A 13 year old can’t get a debit card as far as I know because the most banks only provide debit cards for people aged at least 15. You can try J-Debit which is available for anyone with a bank card and has no minimum age but it’s not a Visa/Mastercard/JCB and has limited acceptance.
You should get a gaica card from Shinsei. You just load money on it directly from your checking account. No name on it. Visa logo.
SBI perhaps? I’m not sure whether they’ll issue a card for a 13 year old, but it might be worth trying…
