How to make Kanji cards on Anki “reading” only

Hi all,

I’m learning kanji through Anki and I would like to know how to turn off the “back” card being displayed first. I’m focusing on reading/recognition acquisition and not on writing/reproducing kanji. Is there a way that I can turn off the back from being displayed first?

  1. Well, is this a deck you made your self or have you downloaded a shared deck?

    If you are adding your own cards, when you add them it says which type you are adding. You can manage types from that UI including adding a new type, and make a type which only has front.

    If you have a shared deck you have to change the note type in the browser, assuming you have a one-sided note type which you can make with Tools->Manage note type
