Shimane is an absolute Gem. Lived there in the early 90’s. Participated in a English conversation camp for a day. All the teachers got a ride on a squid fishing boat in the Sea of Japan. Headed back next year, if they really start letting people in. PS, it look like a city out there on the water at night.
Hey, Mihonoseki! I explored the shrines there, and watched the fishing boats preparing for their next catch. I had to catch a train and two buses to get there from Izumo and Matsue. Anyone a fan of Susanoo and Orochi myths would be happy to explore that whole coastline.
The environment will make you think certain ways. A town with a natural setting allows me to act in a calm manner from what I have experienced. Maybe it could host some type of mini journey, if I can be there for a while. Still doing normal things that sustains the “expense” of energy at the same time.

I love the stone walkways.
