How easy is it to buy an apartment without having a permanent residency?

Thinking about buying instead of renting, as it seems like a much better value even over 3 years or so.

Is it a stupid idea? What are the conditions for foreigners without PR? How much is the typical downpayment? Will I get a shitty interest rate?

  1. Not all banks will give home loans to people without PR, but there are some that do, although they will have worse interest rates.

    Depending on the bank, if no PR you may need a co-signer.

    Down payment can vary since the amount you are financing compared your annual income is probably weighted more in consideration for a loan. A general figure is 20%.
