Osaka .. Working and attending evening language school, doable ? recommendations ?

Hello Everyone,

I will be moving to Osaka next week to start a new job in IT (web developer). Currently I am looking at the language school options in Osaka and comparing them with regards to pricing and more importantly classes’ time availability.

As I will be working full time, I am only interested in evening (after business hours) classes and weekends if available, my language level is very basic with no certification.

My questions are:

1. Is it not common for schools to offer courses with evening classes for people who work full time ? please recommend some options if possible I could not find many
2. Are there courses for working people only ? from what I saw so far, all schools have courses for undergraduates/fresh grads with classroom “fun” activities and such things that I think I would rather not participate in … I am 36 years old and would prefer a more professional “to the point” course .. no offence to the young people out there
3. Does it make more sense to find a private tutor instead ? if yes and they are available for evening sessions, would it be better/worse/same with regards to progression in JLPT levels when compared to schools
4. On average, how many months/years to reach for example N3 level, I have a couple of Japanese friends and they clarified that N3 level and higher gives a better chance of finding better opportunities with better salaries.

Note, my current job (the one that I should start soon) does not require Japanese but of course I am serious about starting the courses once I settle down in Osaka

Thank you all in advance.

  1. I went to human academy after work but its expensive so maybe a personal one on one teacher is better. Easier to plan in the time
