I’m looking at getting web dev skills mainly to get a job working in IT in Japan. Le Wagon offer 2 month bootcamps all over the world but I was thinking it would make sense to do it in Tokyo if I wanted to look for work there right after. However as the course is only 2 months it’s not eligible for a student visa. How problematic would undertaking that kind of private study on a tourist visa be?

As long as you aren’t making money or breaking the law, you can do whatever on a tourist visa
No problem at all now that the borders are opening again. Of course, while on a tourist visa you’re not allowed to work (remotely or otherwise). You’re also not going to be able to change your status of residence while in Japan so if you do manage to get a job offer you’ll have to go home to start the whole visa process.
if you send le wagon a message they’ll be able to provide all the info, you have plenty of time to complete the course within the 3 month tourist visa
