Itinerary Check: 18 days in April – May

Hey all,

Finally, now that Japan is opening we bought some tickets for late April – the start of May and made an itinerary for our trip. we would love some feedback!

Also we’re 6 people if that changes anything

# tokyo
## Day 1:
We land around noon, buy Suica, exchange cash, and check in. If we’re not too tired explore some around the hotel.

## Day 2:
* Tokyo Station
* Akihabara
* Hie Shrine
* Odaiba

## Day 3:
* Sensō-ji
* Asakusa Chika Shōtengai
* Sumida Park
* Tokyo Skytree

## Day 4:
* Ghibli Museum
* Nakano Broadway
* general Shinjuku

## Day 5:
* Shibuya

#Kyoto

## Day 5:
**Shinkansen to Kyoto, then rent some bikes**

* Kyoto

## Day 6:
* Osaka

## Day 7:
* Universal Studios Japan

## Day 8:
* Himeji Castle
* Hiroshima
Then we return to Osaka for the night

## Day 9:
* Nara

#Chūbu

## Day 10:
**Here we rent a car and travel Chubu**

* Kanazawa
* Takayama

## Day 11:
* Kamikochi
* Matsumoto Castle

## Day 12:
* Suwa Taisha Kamisha Maemiya
* Kita Yatsugatake entrance
* Kofu

## Day 13:
* Shosenkyo
* Chureito Pagoda
* Yagizaki Park Lavender Field

## Day 14:
* Shosenkyo
* Chureito Pagoda
* Yagizaki Park Lavender Field

## Day 15:
* Mount Fuji
* Hakone

## Day 16:
* Enoshima Island
* Kōtoku-in
* Tokyo ( and return the car)

## Day 17:
* Tokyo

## Day 18:
* Flight home

This is a long trip and I would love to know if you think we missed something big.
Also during our time in Chubu golden week is happening, and we have no choice but to fly on those dates so we’re trying to make the best of it. How much do you think the golden week would be noticeable?

  1. Give yourself more time in Kyoto. Even when you’re rushing and just doing the major sights, you won’t be done in a day. Osaka might be a more suitable option as a base for the other trips in Kansai.

  2. As for Day 11, it is too busy to visit both Takayama and Kanazawa in one day. There are a lot of things to see in each city.

    As for Day 12, it is also too busy to vist both Matsumoto castle and Kamikochi in one day unless you start really early. By the way, private cars are restricted in Kamikochi (You can park your car at Sawando Park which is 30 minutes away from Kamikochi). Also, between end of April and ealry May is a Japanese holiday season called Golden Week. Every place is really crowded.
