I’m new to reddit so idk how to reply to specific comments on a thread forgive me!
A lot of the comments are asking why kanji and not just word separation and there are people who get it (it’s for differentiation of words spelt/sounding the same in hiragana ie: 庭 – にわ – niwa is garden and 二羽 – にわ – niwa is two birds) but you have to remember Japanese was a language without a writing system up until the Chinese Buddhist and Confucian movement (around the 5th century) travelled from China and made its way across the Korean Peninsula then to Japan. Japan adopted Chinese characters (now kanji) and used the characters to spell out their own words. (Of course there is a level of adaptation where they also just took Chinese meaning/pronunciation but this is why there are dissimilarities between Chinese and Japanese use of characters) katakana, didn’t come till the following century or two. They are smaller parts derived from kanji themselves and were used as an aide to read Kanji, improve literacy and further adapt Chinese characters to the otherwise only spoken Japanese language.
And jsut beucase you can raed tihs dones’t maen taht it’s a good sytsem.
Lol I just remembered the tongue twist
すもも桃、桃も桃、すももも桃も桃のうち
すもももももももももすももももももものうち
You may hate it, but Japanese NEEDS kanji
I’ll give you this ridiculous hieroglyphic in Japan, I thought maybe guys might be forget [it](http://imgur.com/GvjNGq5.jpg)
I had a breakdown reading this.
lmao 日本人なのに何回読んでもさっぱりわからなかったww
Question: shouldn’t it just be むずかしい without the です in the first panel since it is an い adjective? I’m new to this and trying to figure it out.

裏庭には2羽、庭には2羽、鶏がいる。
Edit: Added punctuation
裏庭には*二羽*、庭には二羽、ニワトリがいる
so in total, 4 🙂
I’m so confused about the last panel (I know that’s supposed to be the joke but still)
ここではきものをぬいでください
Can somebody explain the joke to a newbie
草
Newbie question. Wouldn’t this be solved by separating the words?
I personally don’t get the Kanji complaints. Kanji is my favourite part about Japanese and why I started learning Japanese in the first place.
And also, this is a popular tongue twister.
Warota lol
Our teacher explained this to us, all in hiragana, and it was a fun ride on “why we’ll need to know a lot of kanji”
They use that “ni wa” line in this song! Well, not entirely the same but it’s definitely similar

漢字だけの問題じゃない、これw
読点が必要
