Split between two places to study abroad

I’m planning to studying abroad during my sophomore year of college (I’m a freshmen). My advisor gave me two options, Sophia University in Tokyo and Nagoya University in Nagoya. I’ve heard good things about both, so I’m torn as to which one to choose. Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

  1. The info you provided was way too broad for anyone here to give you meaningful advices.

I dont think this is the best place to ask that question.

We cant help if we dont know the details of your situation i.e. purposes of studying abroad, what youre majoring in, why your only option are those two uni etc.

My advice is to contact the universities directly. Either through the Foreign Student department of the uni, or straight to the lecturers/professors. Go to their websites, read about the course youre taking, and compile some questions. You can email them in english if you dont have the confidence in your Japanese. Most uni professors has adequate english reading and writing capability.

  2. Between the two, Sophia (A.K.A. Jouji, for the people who recognise that name) is by far the more famous.

Beyond that, there’ll be some slight difference in specialities, different staff, the fact that Sophia is a private university while Nagoya is public (Japan is the opposite of the states, private isn’t necessarily better than public, and the most famous university (Tokyo U.) is public), and of course the choice between Nagoya and Tokyo. Both are urban, but Tokyo is uber-urban.
