Potential itinerary for November 2022 – Thoughts?

Hey!

I’m planning my first solo international trip to Japan for about 2 weeks in November. I was wondering if you guys can take a look at my plan so far and let me know if its doable?

**Tokyo- 2.5 days:** I say .5 days because the flight I’m eyeing lands mid afternoon. So By the time I get to the hotel and get settled probably near dinner time, so not much exploring that day. Other days I’m planning on going to the Tokyo national musuem, Asakusa, Imperial palace. Plus a whole day for Shinjuku, Shibuya, Meji Jingu and just exploring the city. Any other areas that you would recommend?

**Kyoto- 4 days:** My list of things that I want to see is large, but I’m planning on spending a whole day in certain areas of the city to maximize the exploring I can do. For example, Sanneizaka and Nineizaka one day, Nijo castle and the imperial palace another day, etc

**Hikone/ Nagahama: – .5/1 day**: I’m thinking this would be a cool morning / day trip to see this area of the country

**Hiroshima/ Miyajima- 1.5 days:** The idea I had was to go to Hikone and maybe Nagahama and then head south to Miyajima and spend the night there. Although I’m tossed up on staying in Hirtoshima and going to Miyajima the next day. Thoughts? If I stayed in Miyajima, would it look silly walking around Hiroshima with a suitcase? Assuming there are no lockers available at the train station. I’ts not like I have a huge bag, its a medium sized suitcase and I only really have the castle and atomic dome on my list so far

**Osaka – 1** day: I realize it’s not a lot of time, but I figure If I start the day early I can probably see most of the popular sites. On my list so far is Shinsekai, Dotonbori, Shitenno ji, etc. The popular tourist sites.

**Nara – 1** day: I don’t know if its better to get a hotel and stay the night in Nara, but I think it would be cool as a day trip.

Last day: travel back to Osaka and head home to Canada

Sooooo, how does this plan sound? I know it’s alot to see, but I guess it’s better to get to see a bit of everything and maximize the experience haha. In particular I’m looking for some advice on the Hikone/ Nagahama trip idea – Would it be better to see only one?, For the hiroshima trip, would it be silly walking around with my bag if there are no lockers? This would go for the Hikone area trip too

  1. I personally felt that a half-day trip to Nara from Osaka was a good amount of time. But it depends on what you want to do there. It was enough time for me to see the deer, visit Todaiji temple, try the mochi from the famous mochi shop, and do a little bit of shopping.

Edit to add: I would stay in Osaka and do Nara as a half-day trip. There’s so much to see and do in Osaka, so you might want to hang out there more. Also, toward the end of your trip you might start to feel burnt out from changing hotels so much.
