Lived in SKorea, now looking at Japan

I taught ESL in SKorea and now that Japan is opening up, curious about the best way to find teaching jobs.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

  1. Not enough info provided, tons of threads on this already.

Do you support a teacher as an assistant, or do you design/teach/assess your own classes/students?

Do you have qualifications? (BA /MA in education/English, certifications, teaching license)

Do you teach at an actual school, or are you an employee at a private business?

Do you actually teach ESL, or are you teaching EFL?

What level do you have experience/qualifications to teach?

If you have low/no qualifications you’ll be limited to the oversaturated Eikaiwa (Hagwon)/ALT market, which is entry level usually without any progression in to a career. If you have an MA and can get some research done, you might be able to break into the university adjunct circuit but long term security can be scarce there. If you have a license from your home country and have specific curriculum related experience (IB for example) you could start working toward trying to break into the international school field, but it is hyper competitive here.
