The best way to learn Japanese

I have made a friend who is Japanese and speaks little English what would be the best way to go about learning Japanese the more efficient the better

  1. How I’d do it is learn some japanese phrases and use them(if speaking in japanese is your end goal). Then learn the most common words along with grammar

    Secondly, there isn’t really a “best way” to learn Japanese, but it sounds like you’re mostly interested in speaking. While you’ll still have to learn to read, you can definitely focus more on listening skills and speech when you spend time studying. Focus more on practicing listening skills and speaking (either by practicing with your friend or even just repeating things you hear), but be sure not to neglect reading. Reading ability will give you more resources to be able to learn grammar and vocabulary as well.
