Japanese TV and Antenna Installation Troubleshooting

Edit* Thanks to u/bloggie2 I have it all working now.

Hey team,

I recently bought an LCD TV (https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/gp/aw/d/B08M8P29X8?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title) and antenna (https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/gp/aw/d/B0B49V2D2L?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title) off of Amazon. I was hoping it would just be plug and play, but alas the screen on the TV still hints that I need to plug in the antenna. All instructions are in Japanese and I unfortunately just can’t understand them in order to troubleshoot this. I was hoping someone could take a look below and see if there is something glaringly obvious I’m doing wrong.

Here’s an album of 3 pictures showing the information on the screen, the antenna installed and the actual antenna itself:

Japanese TV and Antenna Issues

Thanks in advance to anyone who has experience with this!

  1. OK your first mistake was buying a Chinese antenna – you should *really* do domestic vendors like DXAntenna or Maspro etc for best reception quality, and prices are similar, BUT the problem in your images is that you have it plugged into BS/CS (satellite) connector. Move the plug here https://i.imgur.com/IpiO6ZG.jpeg up, to where it says 地デジ.

Assuming the janky china antenna you got isn’t a dud, you should be able to do a channel scan and receive some TV. Make sure you actually have the USB power from antenna plugged into the back of TV (there should be some ports for external HDDs/etc that provide 5V).

Also you might want to keep that antenna off the floor, and stick it to a window, or at least a wall, or at least elevate it somehow.
