Using dispatch company or applying as an individual ?

I was approached persistently about a job from a recruitment/dispatch company that I’m suited for. It’s a good job at a good company, but they’ve been slowly changing their tune regarding it and being pretty pushy.

Salary range was 8-10 initially depending on the interview and stuff (which I haven’t even done yet), has now become a set 9. The start date, which they said could be around October has now become “ASAP” and past September unlikely etc. I won’t work for the company, I work for the recruitment company, but in the companies office and stuff.

I’m enjoying my working holiday and not needing work desperately, I was just vert interested by the work and company as they’re pretty big. However, I noticed online that the company website has the position there. Would there be any problems applying as an individual?

it’s my first time with a dispatch company, so don’t want to put myself in a bad situation.Note – Because of my WHV and would need to swap eventually. One of the benefits of this middle man is that they can do this for me.

Any advice appreciated!

EDIT: Sorry I forgot to meant this was IT/software engineering. Not working for a dispatch company.

  1. I don’t know about your skillsets nor background but I would recommend working as a full time employee (正社員) because it’s almost impossible for the company to fire or to let go of you. If you don’t like the job, you can away quit at will.

  2. 8-10M / year is incredibly high for a dispatch company but to each their own I guess.

Having worked at a dispatch company before, I would rather be a regular employee of the company I am physically present at.

Very generally speaking, I feel there isn’t much upward mobility for working at dispatch. Another potential downside is sometimes you may have to transfer locations as once your work with a client company is finished, you will be required to go elsewhere.

  3. Recruiting companies in general, dispatching companies included can help you with your job search. There are a lot of bad companies out there unfortunately and the industry has a bad rep but if you work with an agency and a good consultant, they can really help you.

There are also companies that don’t hire on a fulltime/permanent basis and joining them on a haken/dispatch basis can be a foot in the door. The hurdle is also a lot hire because there is only one meet & greet and not 3-4 interviews. So the process is shorter.

My biggest concern in your situation would be that I doubt the agency can help you with your visa. With working holiday you probably won’t be allowed to work fulltime and the government – at least last time I checked – didn’t allow for anyone to change from working holiday visa to work visa while in the country like you could do for dependent or student to work visa. I could check again with my our visa agency as I work in that space to get a professional’s opinion.

  4. Work direct.

The difference is staggering. At FAANG, it’s RSU which, depending on your [levels.fyi](https://levels.fyi) can double your income. At a boring international company, it’s better vacation, better access to mobility within the company and they won’t fsck you over. A a local but modern company, it’s better recognition within the company. At a traditional company, you won’t get that pay anyway, so that doesn’t apply.
