Coinbase is okay with US citizens?!!

Any fellow americans out there that usually struggle with opening a crypto exchange account in Japan given most exchanges flatout reject American citizens? I decided to create a local Coinbase account (have a US one already) earlier today and got thru successfully this time around? Is this a new thing o what? I clearly remember being rejected preciously by them for being a gaijin. Maybe they’re finally onboarding foreigners..about time tbh
