Business (investment) visa requirements question

Hi! So I did some digging around this sub, really love the information. However both the provided migration webpage \[[https://english.visajapan.jp/toushi.html](https://english.visajapan.jp/toushi.html)\] and wiki, searchbar results here leave few tiny details out for me personally that may be important in future.

I understand the obvious: 5m+ yen capital, business plan/finances + personal self-sustenance funds (not mentioned anywhere I think but I guess they obviously check for extra on hand cash for visa)

I operate “international” business almost always but having to hire 2 employees locally sounds doable and reasonable. Someone also mentioned physical office/workspace renting.

As tiny background not to clutter up info – I was fully eligible for Austrian visas/residences as a person – but they have 100k+ EUR capital needs as main difference, I am considering alternatives for unrelated personal reasons. My concern here is – am I by any chance disqualified as person with only high school degree? I have been professionally self employed since age 16 (since 18 full time, of course – I did finish 12 years of school) in IT/Development and own local business entity also for almost 3 years. (not sure what were requirements either if they check my local business management history? it was mentioned but I had trouble grasping it)

No clue of Japanese language either – but my English is great (I would hope – never bothered to gather certs) and due to the fact that this is supposed to be permanent migration for the goal of Citizenship… that won’t really be a long term concern..?

Origin country: Georgia (so, 0 visa ability unlike towards all of EU – would have to go through full travel process even as tourist)

The link I provided myself advertises “free consultation” via phone & mail. So I will get a reply if I email them in English? will do that, but of course let me know personally here too what I should read up. Wiki for example strictly says I need a bachelors degree for any visa method so I need to clear this info up I guess, not sure if that strictly refers to employment permit-like visas.

So yep – let me know what I missed so far, thank you!

Not necessarily. What they’re looking for is evidence that you have the skills necessary to pull off your business plan. That can be a degree, or it can be extensive experience.

    Speaking of which…

    >I have been professionally self employed since age 16 (since 18 full time, of course – I did finish 12 years of school) in IT/Development and own local business entity also for almost 3 years.

You mention all this, but you don’t mention *how old you are*. When you started isn’t relevant. How long you’ve been doing it is what’s relevant.

Another thing you failed to mention: ***What do you do? *** What sort of business are you planning on starting?

Another key point that you haven’t addressed is “Why Japan?” The business manager visa in Japan is not like the “investor” visas you see in other countries, where you just throw some money into a “consultancy” and get a visa. One of the things immigration is going to look for is a compelling reason for the business to exist in Japan. “Because I want to live there” isn’t going to cut it.

  2. So, this was discussed on here super recently – and I see the exact same issue in your plan from the looks of things.

Why does your business need to be located in Japan? You’re looking at opening a business to move to Japan, so youre going to need a rock solid business plan and a strong reason as to why your business needs to be located in Japan. From the looks of things you’re a 23y/o freelance software dev. So, do you have enough clients that would allow you to make the income to work, and hire the additional Japanese staff? .. Are these clients mostly located in Japan?

Like, if you have a solid base of client that are based in Japan, that gives you a good potential reason why your business should be based in Japan.

Moving for the sake of wanting to live in Japan, is not a valid reason to why your business needs to be based in Japan for example.
