Hello. In an old car anime PlayStation game Ray Tracers, there’s a character whose name makes zero sense; “SLEOTEEL RAZE”. The katakana is in the title.
Could it have been transliterated incorrectly? What name could they have meant? Theo something?
It’s bugging me since I learned katakana!

Google translate says it’s “Threotel Rays.”
Maybe it’s supposed to be “Throttle Rays?”
The game itself Romanizes the name as Sleoteel in the character select, which goes a bit against typical Romanization rules (the double e isn’t indicated by the kana in any way). My best guess is it’s supposed to evoke the Dutch *sleutel*, which means ‘key’.
A [random site I found](http://raido.moe/staff/ps1/ps1_ray_tracers.html) also romanizes it to Sleoteel Raze so ???
At first I thought it was something from [this 90s baseball game](https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/7p1ll2/this_is_from_a_90s_baseball_video_where_a/) where they had to make up American-sounding names.
