Tokyo and Hakone 10 day itinerary with kids

Hello all,

Below is my itinerary for our trip with my wife and 2 daughters (11 & 9).

My wife and I have been to Tokyo, Kyoto and Nagano before but it will be the first time for our kids. Because of this we are mostly interested in Japanese culture, fun activities and the outdoors (and not so much the shrines, temples & castles).

I like to keep my itineraries pretty loose so decisions can be made on the ground based on weather etc. Obviously some things will need to be booked in advance (Disney, Ghibli)

We can make the trip longer if we need to.

The items are **not** in order.

**Tokyo – 5 days**

* Stay in Shibuya or Ueno
* **Still undecided on Hotel or Airbnb**
* Tokyo Disneyland
* Studio Ghibli Museum (if possible)
* Harajuku
* Tokyo Character street
* Shinjuku Gyoen
* Teamlab Planets
* Yoyogi Park (hire bikes at Yoyogi Park Cycle Centre)
* Diver City Tokyo Plaza (shopping, activities)
* Yomiuri Land (at night)

**Hakone – 4 days**

* Travel from Tokyo via Romancecar
* Considering Hakone Kowakien Ten-yu in Gora
* Time visit to avoid weekends
* Open Air Museum
* Lake Ashi boat ride
* Hakone Shrine
* Hike
* Hakone Ropeway
* Hakone Museum of Art (Picasso)
* Travel back to Tokyo and fly out

Let me know what you think, and thank you in advance.

  2. Hakone, you can do most of it if not all in 2 days 1 night. Maximum I would do is 3 days 2 night (as there is a 3 days Hakone Free Pass). Especially considering the cost of that ryokan, doing 4 days in Hakone would be pretty expensive, well, I would not even want to do kaiseki meal like 3 days in a row anyway (unless you decide to take a plan without meal).
