  1. In Japanese books, I noticed the narrator sometimes changes tenses.

Say, it’s in past tense for a while then present. Does this have a particular meaning or am I overthinking this?

  2. Shinkanzen N2 Grammar Exercise L14/15

    1. 大雨が(降るとわかっていながら), まり子は自転車で出かけた。

Why is 降るとわかっていながら preferred here over 降りながら?

    2. もし、林君が本当にそんなことを言ったのだとすると、(彼の精神状態が心配だ)。

Why is 彼の精神状態が心配だ preferred here over 彼とよく話してみるつもりだ?Is it because we are trying to express our judgement rather than our wish or desire?

    3. この計画を実行するとすれば、(いくらぐらいかかりますか)。

Why is いくらぐらいかかりますか preferred here over 貯金を全部おろそう?

Really having a hard time understanding what is/isn’t coming after としたら/とすれば/とすると。

    Thank You
