KYOTO For Seniors Who Can’t Walk Too TOO Much, Any Sites to Avoid?

I’m planning to bring my parents (both 70+) to Kyoto for about a week, and they really like the ease of hop-on-hop-off buses, which Kyoto has in its Sky Hop bus, and the audio explanations seem neat too.

My question: Which of the major sites visited on this bus route would be relatively easy for walking? And which might be more challenging and thus best avoided? I’ll list the bus stops as they’re numbered, for easy reference:

1. Kyoto station
2. Nishi Honganji Temple
3. Shijo Karasuma
4. Nijo-jo
6. Kitano Tenmangu
7. Kinkaku-Ji Temple
8. Daitoku-ji Temple
9. Kyoto Imperial Palace
10. Ginkaku-ji Temple
11. Heian-Jingu Shrine
12. Gion
13. Gojozaka
14. Sanji-sangendo

**Edit/update**: Perhaps put another way, do any of these sites in particular have an obscene amount of stairs?

Thanks!

It’s important to keep in mind that the major temples/shrines in Kyoto all have a fair bit of walking. I’d select 1 – 2 places in the morning and just 1 spot in the afternoon to try to see. After, take a rest at the hotel before going out for dinner. If you go slow, you’ll be able to enjoy the spots you are able to visit.

  2. This is the first time I found out about the hop-on-hop-off, can you share your link to this?

This is probably good for when you’re lazy about plans but wanted to go around anyway 😂
