So I left my job last year and immigration is asking for a 退職証明書, but all I got from the company was a 離職票. Is there a specific document that immigration is looking for or any document that shows formally that I’ve left the company is okay?
You’d have to ask the company directly for that document. It’s pretty standard and shows your last day, reason for quitting and has the company seal. I’ve had a situation where I wasn’t able to get that document so immigration told me just to write a letter to explain why

退職証明書 usually is given upon request and its required by law that your previous company have to provide to you if you request as soon as possible without delay. You may refer [here](https://www.japaneselawtranslation.go.jp/ja/laws/view/3567#je_ch2at11) chapter 2.22.1
