I have a bachelors degree in Visual Communication from a university in the Philippines. For my thesis, I created a short docufilm on transnational Filipino family structures, immigration and media representation.
Because of how much fun I had researching about my topics, I got inspired to do a masters that is more academe-related. I found out about APU offering a Masters program on Asia Pacific Studies (Society and Culture). I was wondering if this was a good fit with what I want? Also, is it worth it? I have a rough research proposal in mind but I am not sure if going to APU would be the best option financially, academically and career-wise.
My other option for a masters is Media and Communications/Multimedia Journalism. Would I be better off studying that elsewhere since my background is more in the creative arts?

Good for getting a visa maybe.
My personal opinion is that most masters programs are worth nothing except for maybe a minor salary bump whenever you get a job later.
That being said if your goal is to move to Japan and you have a scholarship that pays for it, a grad program can be a pretty good way of moving to Japan by giving you a visa and 2 years to network and find your next step.
