I’m a big anime nerd, but also enjoy museums. I’ve also built in some rest into my schedule, which will hopefully keep me feeling relatively fresh.
Lodging: Nothing booked, but most of the places I’ve looked at are adjacent to one of the major Yamanote line hubs, namely Shinjuku, Ueno and Ikebukuro. Also looked at Asakusa.
In Kyoto, we’ll be staying as close as possible to Kyoto station.
**Travel Day**
* Arrive in Tokyo (NRT) from Canada. Pick up Suica card at airport. Basically lose two whole days due to flight length and time zone jump.
* Not planning on doing anything else other than checking into my hotel and grabbing some food nearby.
**Day 1 (Tokyo):**
* Morning: Senso-ji. May push to a later date or skip depending on jet lag. (Will have more historical sights in Kyoto anyway)
* Afternoon: Akihabara
**Day 2 (Tokyo)**
* Morning: TeamLabs Planets Tokyo. Have lunch at Toyosu Market.
* Afternoon: National Museum of Emerging Science (aka Miraikan) and Gundam Base Tokyo. Depending on energy, might consider checking out Small Worlds as well.
**Day 3 (Tokyo/Yokohama)**
* Morning: Day trip to Yokohama via the Minatomirai line. Visit the Gundam Factory and the moving RX-78F00 statue.
* Afternoon: Cup Noodle Museum and maybe Yokohama Chinatown.
**Day 4 (Tokyo)**
* Morning/Afternoon: Ikebukuro area, including Sunshine City/Sunshine Aquarium/Pokemon Mega Center Tokyo
* Evening: Have dinner somewhere near Shibuya Crossing and appreciate the lights. (Likely return to hotel to rest first, but depends on hotel location and energy levels)
**Day 5 (Tokyo)**
* Morning: Rest
* Afternoon: Harajuku area, maybe check out a maid cafe if I didn’t already in Akihabara.
**Day 6 (Tokyo/Mt. Fuji):**
* Morning/Afternoon: Mt. Fuji day tour, weather dependent. If it doesn’t look like Fuji will be visibile, than maybe visit another museum in the Ueno area. May also swap it with another day if the weather is more favorable.
**Day 7 (Tokyo)**
* Planning to attend the SACRA MUSIC FES 2022 concert in Chiba at Makuhari Messe.
**Travel Day 7.5 (Shinkansen)**
* Morning/Afternoon: Take shinkansen to Kyoto and check into hotel.
**Day 8 (Kyoto):**
* Morning: Rest at hotel, explore area near hotel
* Afternoon: Railway Museum
* Evening: Gion district for dinner (likely stop by hotel on the way to rest)
**Day 9 (Kyoto)**
* Morning: Nishiki Market
* Afternoon: Samurai/Ninja Museum
**Day 10 (Kyoto)**
* Morning/Afternoon: Fushimi Inari Taisha. Depending on parents, may or may not do the full hike.
**Day 11 (Kyoto)**
* Morning: Rest
* Afternoon: Nijo Castle
* Evening: Dinner at Ponto-cho area (again likely return to hotel first). This part can be freely moved to other days as needed.
**Day 12 (Kyoto)**
* Morning/Afternoon: Arashiyama Bamboo forest and Monkey Park
**Travel Day**
* Train to ITM and fly home
