I am wondering if anyone has any knowledge about the field of instructional design in Japan.
I have an MA in TESOL and teach at a Japanese university, but I am considering pivoting to instructional design. I found an online course that will give me a certification for a reasonable price. I did research about salaries and found that instructional designers tend to make a bit more than I do now as a teacher, but I think that information is America-based.
I am not sure how common instructional design jobs are in Japan specifically. I searched Indeed and found a couple of promising positions, but I’d like to get a better idea about the field here in general.
Does it make sense as a career move to become an instructional designer in Japan? Will I have enough options? Will I be able to work remotely? Is the salary as good as it is in America?
I would appreciate any insight anyone has.
