The orange flowered trees

Who else likes the smell of the orange flowered trees in autumn

  1. I’ve been smelling this for a week or two as I was walking around and was wondering where it was coming from. Found the tree this morning actually. I don’t remember the smell the last 2 years before this, even though I was walking the same areas last year. Makes me think of laundry detergent.

  2. I love it!
Theres one right outside my balcony! It’s basically everywhere in my city lol.

  3. Smells like someone is drying loads of fresh washed laundry. I like it but it’s intense. We have a few of those trees between us and neighbor.

  4. Fragrant Olive (Kinmokusei):
Blooming the moment the summer relents and the nights grow slightly cooler.
I would much rather wander for hours from house to house to seek out kinmokusei than to travel through the rain to deliberately view the hydrangeas (ajisai) lining some muddy temple staircase, barely domesticated, over-fertilized petals like wadded up litmus paper.

One, fragrant olive, is the flower of unexpectedly renewed love, the scent of a pleasant surprise, while the other, hydrangeas, are symbolic of a cancelled date, best seen from a lonely hut in the woods.

  5. 金木犀(きんもくせい)。but we also have white one. It is called 銀木犀(ぎんもくせい), ginmokusei.

  6. i only smell the funky ginko tree during autumn and the sweet berry smell in the mountain. i have not seen this particular tree/flower
