Recommendations for an impromptu solo trip to Kamikochi

Hi! I’m a 25 year old living in Tokyo and I’m craving some alone time out in nature. I have a very long weekend coming up (Wednesday night -Sunday night) and I’m hoping to escape to Kamikochi by myself for some hiking, relaxing and overall introvert time in nature!

Does anyone have any recommendations or tips (relatively affordable accommodations? moderate/challenging hiking routes? Onsen? Food? Anything else?)

Thank you so much!

  1. You can hike up to yakedake and karasawa from kamikochi. Both dayhikes and quite nice for how accessible they are.
Most other ones are at least 2 days, depending on your speed and stamina 3 days.
I think one of the hotels has an onsen? Not sure as I’ve always stayed at the campground which has a sento. If you want to save money you can stay in one of their huts, cheaper than the hotels and much more quiet if that’s what you’re looking for.
