Hi pals! It will be my first Christmas in Japan this year and I was wondering what recommendations people have. I will be in the Tokyo area for Christmas and then heading to Nagano to ski for new years. Any things I shouldn’t miss? Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

The most important thing is: pre order KFC NOW!
You have some illuminations in some places, like Roopongi and so on. The shops all go a bit Christmassy. There are even some European style Christmas markets around where you can get mulled wine. But it’s all a bit gaudy here. The day itself isn’t much to shout about either because most people are working. On past Xmas days I’ve:
– been to the cinema alone
– played mini super Famicom for four hours then went and got smashed at the Hub.
– went to Hakone and saw.Mt Fuji from some lake
– went to my in-laws and had pizza
– had a department store chicken bucket cos KFC was.obvs sold out
– worked
– been to a Love Hotel
I wouldn’t get super excited about Xmas itself I’d just have a chill and then go all in on your new year trip. If you’ve got any FWBs on the go or even a girlfriend, spend it with them. Christmas isnt that exciting here usually. Just another day basically.
