I’d like to inform you about a full-time / permanent employment opportunity with Saitama City Board of Education. Saitama City has a certain autonomy allowing it to innovate, with one such example being this selection process which does not require having graduated from a Japanese university or holding a teaching license. To get started, take a look at the information contained within, including the English-language flyer “Teach in Saitama City.” To reserve your spot with an informational session on either 4/17 or 4/23, please click on the blue reservation button.

Is this a normal offering (something I could look to in the future)?
I’m assuming you have to be in Japan already to apply?
The link to the flyer is giving a “page not found” error.
The requirements (if anyone else was interested):
• Proper visa to work in Japan
• Bachelor’s degree (or the equivalent) or higher
• At least 1 year of experience teaching in English as a second language in Japan
• Japanese ability needed to work in a Japanese school
• Those who meet the conditions for granting a special teaching license
How about some tips for the interview?
While this is awesome, I want to reiterate what OP said – if this is to get on as a regular teacher, this is **nothing** like ALT work.
This is a good road to an actual career in teaching (as the license will let you teach solo) and the security of a position with the government.
You will, however, be floored by the difference if you’re coming from ALT work. It’s a good challenge!
Thanks for posting this. It doesn’t seem to specify school level or subject. Is the prefecture going to assign candidates based on experienced areas or is it generalists? (elementary school).
So how many vacancies are there? I downloaded the pdf but didn’t see it.
Thanks for posting this. I would be very interested if my situation were different. This is a good opportunity. Can I repost on social media?
Hey! Thanks for posting this. I’m pretty interested, but have a question about the information sessions. You noted two of them (4/17 and 4/23), which I see on the website are meant for native speakers. The website says that the contents of the sessions are all the same and that some are online as well. Would it be acceptable to attend an online session, even as a native speaker? Or is there some difference in content for the sessions for native speakers?
I would love to attend the online session as I’m quite far from Saitama (Nagasaki, small island off main). I looked on the reservation area but only saw for the in-person options to select. Perhaps I missed the online reservation area?
