When labeling items with their Japanese names, do you use Kanji + Kana, or only one or the other?

I just bought 270 2″x2″ sticky notes to use to label things around the house–to hopefully get more serious about learning the language–and I’m torn between just using Kana or both Kana and Kanji.

Just Kana: Because I don’t know (m)any Kanji yet, and thus don’t know how to write them correctly (stroke order, etc.)

Both: Get used to reading Kanji and associating them with the proper kana/sounds and with the item

Any advice?

  1. I’ve never done this, but I might try kanji on the front, kana on the back, and then you can look underneath the sticky note to double check the pronunciation if you forget it.
