It’s not a *great* nickname.
I find it hard to believe that the miles and perks people are “earning” on these flights is worth all the money they are spending on pointless flights…
I’ve done this before. Needed just over a thousand mileage points to get diamond status one year, so booked a same-day round trip to Osaka on a weekday, worked from the airport Starbucks for a couple of hours and went home.
Used accumulated miles as vouchers to pay for the trip so pretty simple and easy way to get status, especially since security for domestic air travel here is not nearly as severe it is in the US for example.
