I’ve been in Spain for some years now and have been receiving prep medication for free through the public health system.
I’m currently in the process of moving to Japan from Spain and I was wondering if there would there be any issue with the Japanese authorities if I brought over a carry-on full of boxes of prep?
I’ve read on certain pages saying I might have to do some sort of declaration, others saying that it wouldn’t be necessary just that it’s not available for purchase in the country.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated as it’s not entirely clear, thanks!

It all depends on the quantities. In general anything over a month supply and you’ll want to apply for an import certificate. https://www.mhlw.go.jp/english/policy/health-medical/pharmaceuticals/01.html
