On my bank statements I have noticed “$5 international service fee” right next to “3% international service fee” which is about $2. I like to withdraw 10,000 yen at a time from the 7/11 atms which is a little less than $70 at the moment so are they literally taking 10% every time I withdraw??! I noticed my money draining quicker than usual lately and checked my statements and was surprised to see this. Is this a new fee they added?

Are you withdrawing as USD? It was an option recently-ish added to some ATMs.
If so, don’t do that. That will use a shitty 7/11 rate + extra fee. You should let your bank do the rate conversion.
I just use Revolut and get charged nothing at all
Get a WISE account and use their debit card instead. You’ll come out *far* ahead.
