Would anyone hazard a guess **why the requirements for eSIM and SIM** are different?
That part just doesn’t make much sense to me 😕

Edit: PRs can have both SIM and eSIM, but seemingly non-pr residents cannot have eSIM’s.

what is your question actually? I signed up for lineMo for one of my burner phones, just took some pictures of the mynumber card and I got the sim a few days later.
generally speaking, in Japan if the rule exists you just have to follow it. complaining about it is not going to make any difference at all.
I suspect for esim they’re doing eKYC which means you could get it issued within a few minutes as opposed to waiting for several business days. that could potentially explain the different requirements.
What are the different requirements?
