7 or 14 day JR PASS and two week itinerary feedback

Dear members, my husband and I are going to Japan for the second time this December 16 days (returning to our home country a few days before NYE). We have been to Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto already (side trips to Odaiba, Nara, Himeji, Hiroshima, Kobe, Yokohama, Kamakura) but don’t mind revisiting some of these places plus a new detour to Kanazawa this time.

Please offer your thoughts and feedback on our itinerary so far and ***whether we should purchase the 7 day or 14 day JR pass?***

  1. Your travel from Tokyo > Kanazawa > Osaka is all within 7 days, so that pretty much rules out the 14 day pass. But you should confirm if those trips will be more or less than the pass, to find if you need a pass at all.

Tokyo-Kanazawa is ~15000, Kanazawa-Osaka is ~8000. If this is more than the JR pass, then you should buy it, if not, you don’t need it.
