Dear everyone,
I just tried to transfer money from Europe to my Post account using Key Currency (which is like Wise). The bank rejected the transfer with the statement “Bank does not accept JPY payments from overseas commercial banks”.
Did any of you ever encounter this issue? How did you solve it?
Thanks for any advice.

The notice you got from the bank is pretty clear. I don’t understand why you’d think there’s a way to circumvent the policy. Japan Post Bank only accepts USD or EUR transfers from overseas.

You need to send USD or EUR, or get a bank account that allows yen remittances.
if it was “like wise” your transfer to key should have been a domestic one. why is it trying to do an international transfer? and yes, jp bank requires an intermediary when sending via swift, and unless you can enter that detail, the transfer won’t make it. also they only accept USD or EUR for intl transfers, not JPY.
