Learning a new language with a speech impediment

Hey guys. Ever since I was little I have been interested in learning Japanese, and I eventually started learning about 2 years ago. But, there is something that has been worrying me. I have a speech impediment, and I’ve noticed that Japanese speakers speak really fast, and I wouldn’t be able to do that. Will Japanese people still understand me if I speak slower?

  1. Unless you look like almost Japanese it doesn’t matter. They are really kind to those who try to speak their language. As long as avoiding rushing pedestrians you would be welcomed.
