Weekly Japan Travel and Tourism Discussion Thread – October 8, 2022

## Travel and Entry Updates

* On October 11, 2022, visa-free travel for [ordinary passport holders of 68 countries](https://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/index.html) (countries listed [here](https://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/short/novisa.html)) will resume.
* If you are a passport holder of a country **not** on the visa exemption list, you will still need to apply for a visa after October 11, 2022. All requirements are listed [on the official website](https://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/index.html).
* Tourists will need to be vaccinated three times with an [approved vaccine](https://www.mhlw.go.jp/stf/covid-19/border_vaccine.html) or submit a negative COVID-19 test result ahead of their trip. See below for details.

**For more detailed information about entry requirements and COVID procedures, please see our [monthly megathread/FAQ](https://www.reddit.com/r/JapanTravel/comments/xsny8j/japan_travel_covid19_and_you_tourism_information/).**

  1. Hey all, as I anticipate my return trip in February, I’ve been consuming a ton of Japan related youtube videos. With that being said, I found a channel “Tokyo Kenchan” who is rather new but has been uploading tons and tons of up to date information regarding rules as well as newly opened attractions. I have zero affiliation with the channel but it has given me a wealth of knowledge of current day Tokyo. I highly suggest any first time Japan travelers and even seasoned veterans to take a peep at his content!
