Applying for my number card requires 住民票?

Just recently moved to Japan and already registered my address in 区役所. I got a resident card and a 住民票コード通知票.

Now I want to apply for my number card but I saw online that the マイナンバー通知書 will only be delivered to my home if I got my 住民票. Do I need to apply for 住民票 in this case or is the 住民票コード通知票 enough?

Thanks!

  1. Are you talking about the plastic my number card? You can get (apply) that at the ward office, which is coincidentally where you can get a juminhyo, too.

Also your paper my number card should be delivered to you automatically, you just have to wait for it.

You might want to tone down a little on the kanji in English paragraphs thing. It’s kinda grating to read lol
